We were in Pella visiting family and stayed at the AmericInn. This was the first time to stay here usually we stay somewhere else but they were booked up. This was the dirtiest place we stayed. They also charged the weekend fee for the room during the weekdays we stayed there. Their housekeeping wasn't up to standards we would expect in Pella. The Jazucci and bathrooms were dirty. Trash wasn't taken out all the time we stayed. They also didn't vacuum the room and in the laundry room for guests there were bugs on the floor and weren't swept up. Not to mention that the paint was peeling off the walls. I was very disappointed in the stay here.

Pros: Friendly staff, sufficient room, clean exterior/parking lot, nice pool area and hot tub. Breakfast was something to please all of us. Bed was comfortable. Cons: Breakfast area is very small...

Cons: Breakfast area is very small, room/carpet was slightly dirty (crumbs on table) and walls had some cracking/peeling that was just not pleasant to look at, and don't take one particular set of stairs due to an odor.

I apologize for the uncomfortable odor on the back stairs. We are aware of this, and discovered it after a sneaky guest broke our no-pet policy. We did take the room this particular guest stayed in out of order while we work on it, but unfortunately, we can’t put the stairs out of order. If we could, we would, but I’m afraid that the inconvenience to the guest would defeat the purpose.
I have also read your comments regarding the carpeting and crumbs on the table. I wasn’t sure if this was in a public area, or the actual guest room, but either way, it is unacceptable. I will address this with each individual that may be involved. I feel that we currently have a very good staff, but there is always room for improvement, and if it was the guest room, then apparantly there is far too much room for improvement. I know that we’ve had turnover, and it could have been a new trainee, but regardless, it is still our oversight.
Thank you, again, and I’m hoping that we will have another opportunity to take care of you, as you travel through Pella, Iowa.

I just recently spent 11 consecutive nights at this property and simply cannot say enough good things about my experience. The staff of this hotel treated me like "part of the family" from start to finish and I honestly will miss seeing them. My King Suite room was excellent and I was not bothered at all by noise generated from what is essentially a tiny local airport. The food served every morning was consistently good and an actual human being cheerfully called me every morning with a wake up call. I do a lot of business travel and have stayed in many hotels considered "top of the line" like Westin, Marriott, etc. and have yet to experience a more engaging and pleasant staff. I am going to put them on my Christmas card list!
You have been greatly missed. In fact, when I told one of the gals that you left a review, the others were quickly scampering to the Front Desk for a full report on it.
Before even meeting you, I had heard about this mystery guest that had the effect of a Rock Star on my staff.
You were a delight, and we will all miss you.

Complained and the feedback was "yes, we know, we try to stop doing laundry by 10 pm." If you're not going to spend much time in your room, this would likely not be an issue.
I can't tell you how sorry I am about your experience with the laundry room. I tried calling you directly with the number we have in your folio, but there was a voice mail recording left by the name of Judy, so I did not leave a message. I'm guessing your place of work placed the reservation on your behalf.
I feel that we let you down, and I am genuinely sorry for that. It is not our practice, and I had hoped to explain that to you.
I do remember you coming to the desk that morning you checked out. You had a very pleasant disposition, and unfortunately, I mistook that for not having any issues, even though you did explain the laundry room noise. Sincerely, I should have known better. It is not the guest's burden of responsibility to make us understand when they don’t receive complete satisfaction.
As always, I appreciate you taking the time to leave this review. Had you not given us your feedback, I would not have gained this valuable experience. A lesson that I should have already known, but I promise you, it is a lesson I will not need again.
