Great Lakes Aquarium is a nonprofit organization dedicated to capturing the wonder and excitement of Lake Superior inspiring responsibility for the world's large lakes and fresh water and creating understanding of their value. Previously known as Lake Superior Center Great Lakes Aquarium has been located on the Duluth Waterfront since 2000. A mostly freshwater aquarium this aquarium features animals and habitats found within the Great Lakes Basin and is ideal for Minnesota kids fun. The Aquarium also houses animals from other fresh water ecosystems such as the Amazon River.

A collection of multiple use trails between Hinckley and Duluth. It consists of interconnecting trails offering hiking bicycling in-line skating and snowmobiling. It highlights the picturesque scenery and rich history of East Central Minnesota. The trail follows the route of the railroad that saved many lives in the historic Hinckley and Cloquet fires in the nineteenth century.

A proud railroading town, Proctor is home to the Canadian National Railyard. In August of every year, Proctor is host to the South St. Louis County Fair and the Proctor Hoghead Festival. Other areas of interest near Proctor are Spirit Mountain Recreation Area(features include skiing, the Timber Twister alpine coaster, the Timber Flyer zipline, mini golf, and coming in the winter of 2011 snow tubing), the Proctor Municipal Golf Course, and the Willard Munger Trail, which offers several trails for hiking, bicycling, in-line skating and snowmobiling.

Hermantown is a growing community in the Twin Ports area. Located just northwest of Duluth, Hermantown is home to the Miller Hill Mall, various restaurants, and numerous other stores and shops. It also has its fair share of rural land for snowmobiling and other outdoor activities.

Located on the shores of Lake Superior, the community boasts unparalleled natural beauty, from their 36 hole Nemadji Golf Course to Barker's Island Marina.

Canal Park is on the shores of Lake Superior and home to the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center, Great Lakes Aquarium, numerous shops, art galleries and restaurants. The centerpiece of Canal Park is the Aerial Lift Bridge under which 1,000 foot ships from around the world enter the harbor. Duluth International Airport is located just north of the city of Duluth.

Carlton is the county seat of Carlton County and home to the Carlton County Courthouse and county offices. The city of Carlton also has offices for the BNSF railroad and is also the gateway to Jay Cooke State Park and the four season, paved Munger trail that runs from Hinckley to Duluth, MN.
