Oakdale MN Hotels - Guest Reviews

I got a Priceline "Express Deal" for this hotel for two nights, at $46 a night. The actual hotel is visible right off the freeway, but a little hard to get to, since it is a little ways down the frontage road off the nearest exit. I was put in a room in a non-ideal location that seemed smaller than comparable rooms, which I'm guessing may have been due to the low rate I paid. It was clean and comfortable enough, but probably not the best I have experienced for this class. Some things seemed a little outdated (like the tub/tile in the bathroom) while other things (carpet/paint in room) seemed like they had been updated recently. I thought the bed was pretty comfortable, but the bedding seemed thin compared to what other hotels usually have, and I'm not sure it would have been warm enough on a very cold night. The heater in my room was pretty noisy and, as a result, I didn't sleep as well the first night. The in-room fridge was very cold, and froze anything inside. I can't recall if there was a way to adjust the temp. Some of the walls/doors in the hallway looked kind of scuffed up and worn. There is no elevator, but two sets of stairs to the rooms on the upper floor. The pool/hot tub were not bad, but the pool water was a little cold. One of the afternoons I was there, a family looked like they were having a birthday party for their child so the pool and hot tub were both full of kids. The free breakfast was decent. They have the typical assortment of baked goods/cereal, as well as a make your own waffle station, and sausage and eggs as hot items. Overall, I thought this was a perfectly acceptable place to stay that was worth the price I paid, though it didn't seem as good as other AmericInn hotels at which I have stayed. Looking at the non-discounted/advertised rate, I see plenty of comparable hotels in the area for about the same price that have better reviews and I would guessing would offer a better value.

We stayed here in early October and were very pleased with the facility. It was very clean and appeared to be well maintained. The bed was quite comfortable. The breakfast had both hot and cold entrees and a larger variety than I had expected. The primary reason we chose this hotel was its policy on pets. We have 2 dogs and they allow up to 2 pets who are less than 80 lbs. There is even a grassy area behind the hotel for their walks. We were not charged anything extra for the dogs. I didn't mention them, nor was asked at registration, but was not trying to hide them either so the prior review has me confused. Everything worked very well and the staff was quite friendly and accomodating.

We brought our dog, paid the fee, and of course needed to access through the only side door rather than lobby. The door was not working. I talked to the staff and they said they knew it wasn't working with the card, but we had to access through that door rather than the lobby. When I pointed out that I did not want to spend the night in the parking lot, they said I still couldn't come through the only other usable (lobby) door. So, what? Climb through the window???? Things poorly maintained: towel racks falling off wall, kleenex dispenser falling off vanity; one single tiny bar of soap and amenities not replaced during stay, doors not working correctly, bad attitude of staff, internet not working, out of range of cell phone towers. . . And it's really creepy that although the breakfast food seems find, all the chairs we touched were sticky. Either they get washed off with something that leaves a sticky residue. . . . or they never get washed. Your guess is as good as mine. I learned my lesson; I won't wait to the last minute to book a hotel next time so I can avoid a place like this. . . .

Excellent value, friendly staff, nice pool area. Breakfast area was clean and stocked well. Chose this hotel based on its location to the school. Better than other hotels in the area. Will stay here again.

It took a few minutes to find someone to check us into our hotel but we were also early... Wanting to check in about 2:30. Besides that this is a great value hotel and has a very friendly staff. Room and entry area was very clean and smelled fresh. Perfect stay for the price and location!
