Lutsen Mountains with four mountains to ski is the largest ski resort in Minnesota and boasts the largest vertical drop in the Midwest. Aside from the downhill runs, there are accesses to cross-country ski trails from the resort. During the summer Lutsen Mountains are open to mountain bikers not to mention the thrills of the Alpine Slide from the summit of Eagle Mountain and the tram ride to Summit Chalet on Moose Mountain. During the autumn, the tram ride to the summit of Moose Mountain offers breathtaking views of Lake Superior and the dazzling fall foliage of the Sawtooth Mountains from a four-person gondola. The famous Superior Hiking Trail can also be accessed from Lutsen.
