The Springfield Cardinals are a minor league baseball team based in Springfield Missouri. The team which plays in the Texas League is the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals major-league club and is owned by the Cardinals. The club plays at Hammons Field.
Visit the site of the first major Civil War battle fought west of the Mississippi River and the scene of the death of Nathaniel Lyon the first Union general killed in combat. With the exception of the vegetation the field has changed little and remains in near pristine condition.
