In 1906 William Irvine had a dream to establish a reserve that would enhance and protect the Chippewa Valley environment. Mr. Irvine then donated a number of acres to the city for this purpose. The size of the park has grown throughout the years and is now 318 acres. It has been a recreational resource of pride for Chippewa Falls residents and visitors for many years. This is a two-mile gently rolling trail. The trail is located in the city of Chippewa Falls on Highway 124 North.

Elk Mound is known for Mound Hill Park. At 1220 feet above sea level, Mound Hill Park Castle offers a panoramic view of the village and surrounding areas. The castle was originally constructed in 1937 to be used as an observation tower. Elk Mound also offers a village park with ball field, children's play equipment and a pavilion.
