Area Travel - AmericInn® Milford, DE
Welcome to Beautiful Delaware! Read about our Milford attractions and things to do nearby AmericInn.
We are only 15 minutes from the capital, Dover, close to Dover Air Force Base and corporate Milford. The City of Milford Delaware, a semi-rural, family-oriented community of 6,732, is the largest town in Sussex County, although it sits in both Sussex and Kent counties. Founded in 1680 on the north and south banks of the Mispillion River, Milford was incorporated in 1807. The city was originally called Saw Mill Range because the land there had been granted to the Duke of York to produce lumber for England. By the 1770s, a shipbuilding industry was thriving. At the intersection of U.S. 113 and Route 1, Milford is known as the Gateway to Southern Delaware. Its crown jewel is the Mispillion River Walk, a greenway built to preserve the city's waterfront. The Abbott's Mill Nature Center is also in Milford. Numerous fresh water and saltwater sporting activities are available here, including the annual World Champion Weakfish Tournament. AmericInn of Milford offers exquisitely appointed deluxe accommodations near numerous Milford attractions and fun family festivals including: Annual Bug & Bud Festival, Riverwalk Arts & Jazz Series, Annual Riverwalk “Freedom” Festival, Farmer’s Market – May – October and many more. All room accommodations include a DirecTV, refrigerator, iron and ironing board, coffee pot, hair dryer, and a full deluxe continental breakfast with homemade Belgian waffles. Your stay also includes the use of our indoor recreation area with indoor heated pool and whirlpool. Seven corporate extended stay accommodations include a Kitchenette.
