Area Travel - AmericInn® Vidalia, GA
Welcome to Beautiful Georgia! Read about Vidalia attractions and things to do nearby AmericInn.
The AmericInn Lodge & Suites of Vidalia is located on the original Vidalia Onion Farm owned and operated by Mose Coleman. He was very innovative and probably ahead of his time. Vidalia is a railroad town where tobacco, pecans and other farm products were brought to market and shipped out. It is still a very rural and picturesque town with a lot of Southern charm.
Every spring, we have the Vidalia Onion Arts and Crafts Festival that brings artisans and visitors from all over the world. The last week end in April we have arts and crafts, entertainment, the Blue Angels air show and much, much more. Then the first weekend in November there is the Million Pines Arts and Crafts Festival in Soperton, GA, about 18 miles away. So, if you like spring or fall, we have something for all.
Also in the spring, Lyons, GA has a live production of “Tales From the Altamaha” that is a play with a cast of about 75. The author of stories about life around the Altamaha River, a river that runs through Toombs County, Vidalia and Lyons, participates in the scripts and direction.
The locally owned and operated AmericInn is in close proximity to Hawk’s Point Golf Club, and Rocky Creek Golf Club, the Edwin I. Nuclear Power Plant, 40 miles to Baxley, and Chicken of the Sea and U.S. Pet Nutrition are in Lyons 10 minutes away. It’s only 5 minutes to the New Meadows Regional Hospital, and Southeastern Technical College.
Other attractions include nature’s treasures, such as the tall Georgia pine, pecan orchards, the “Vidalia Onion”, cotton, and blueberry fields, early morning sunrise, and quiet evenings with the sun setting over the lake. You can also visit Buckhorn Creek Ranch (a petting zoo), rent a bike or explore the rivers of SE Georgia in a canoe.
