The AmericInn of Ames is located 20 miles from Ankeny which is slightly north of Des Moines. Ankeny is the host of its annual Summerfest parade and carnival and close to Saylorville Lake where you can enjoy swimming and water sports. There are several hiking and biking trails to experience in the area as well. Ankeny has several eclectic restaurants and shopping centers to enjoy. Just off Interstate 35 between Ames and Des Moines, Ankeny is a great place to stop and visit.

Story City, Iowa

The AmericInn of Ames is located 15 miles south of Story City Iowa. Although small and quaint, this locale is right off of Interstate 35 north of Ames and features many things to see and do. Story City is home to the Antique Carousel and also the Grand Opera house both dating back to the 1913’s. There is also the Brick Museum and 1859 Schoolhouse both containing artifacts and memorabilia. Story City also hosts the annual Scandinavian Days festival each summer featuring food, activities, and fun. Story City is a great place to experience the heritage of this area.
