The Americinn of Grimes is located 5 miles north of Urbandale. Urbandale was incorporated as a city on April 16, 1917. In its early days Urbandale served as a streetcar suburb of Des Moines with four coal mines. Urbandale is the home of Living History Farms, where Pope John Paul II spoke to a crowd of 350,000. It is also the home to the Des Moines Buccaneers hockey team.
Perry, Iowa
Our Grimes hotel is located 25 miles south west of Perry. Perry, Iowa was founded in 1869 when Harvey Willis, a 49er adventurer who had walked and found gold in California, convinced railroad surveyors to put the tracks on his land where Perry now stands.
