Just 10 miles east of Alexandria on Highway 27 is Osakis, Minnesota located on the south end of Lake Osakis, a 6,300-acre fishing and recreation area with unique Indian history. The city of Carlos is north of Alexandria and has plenty to offer. If you like tasting, looking or buying wine visit Carlos Creek Winery. It is a beautiful location that is open year round and is about a ten minute drive from Alexandria. Lake Carlos State Park, sculpted by ancient glaciers, contains a tamarack bog, marshes, woodland ponds, and lakes. A variety of recreational activities revolve around the lake. Clear and deep, Lake Carlos offers visitors a perfect setting for swimming, fishing, boating, camping, hiking and horseback riding. In the winter, ski from the tamarack bog to a maple-basswood forest.
