Welcome to the Cities Neighboring our Mankato Minnesota Hotel

New Ulm, Minnesota

Often called the “City of Charm and Tradition”, New Ulm is home to 13,500 people in the heart of the scenic Minnesota River valley and boasts a thriving, diverse economy with a healthy mix of retail, manufacturing, and industry. The exceptional medical and school systems are complimented by numerous city parks, festivals and cultural events that make life wonderful for both citizens and visitors alike. New Ulm is famous for its authentic German heritage and with all of the festivals, monuments, attractions, shopping and many cultural events, you’ve got to see for yourself why the Federal Census of 2000 called New Ulm the “Most German City in the USA”!

Madelia, Minnesota

Just 20 miles south of our hotel in Mankato, Madelia is a growing city on the prairies of southern Minnesota. The city was named for a German immigrant's daughter, Madelia Hartshorn. Madelia is convenient to Mankato and New Ulm - Minnesota's popular year-round historical & business destinations. The Madelia area offers a wealth of family activities, specialty shops, significant sightseeing, ethnic foods, nature opportunities and unique history and heritage. Madelia's pride is that we are home of the "Magnificent 7" who captured the Younger Brothers Gang who rode with Jesse & Frank James during the Last Great Bank Robbery in Northfield, MN in 1876. In nearby areas, you can visit Walnut Grove, home to Laura Ingalls, Windom, the Jeffers Petroglyphs, and New Ulm's and Mankato's River Valley history and beauty.

Saint Peter, Minnesota

Located just 10 miles north of our Mankato hotel, St. Peter is located in the heart of the Minnesota River Valley. St. Peter is one of Minnesota's most historic cities, home of 5 former Governors of Minnesota and several other historic buildings. The city is a great destination for history buffs and families looking for beautiful scenery. Saint Peter residents enjoy parks, an exceptional community center, library, sports facilities, and a multitude of educational and outdoor opportunities. Special events such as Old-Fashioned Fourth of July, Rock Bend Folk Festival, and the Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus are anticipated and well attended each year. On the campus of Gustavus Adolphus, the 55-acre Linnaeus Arboretum is a haven for nature lovers.

Lake Crystal, Minnesota

Lake Crystal is located just 10 miles southwest of our Mankato hotel. Here you'll find a wonderful park system on the lake that borders the north side of town along with several restaurants. For those that like to stay in shape, Lake Crystal is home to the Lake Crystal Area Recreation Center that has activities for all ages including a large pool, gymnasium and walking track. Lake Crystal's annual celebration - "Duck Days" takes place in June of each summer which includes a large parade and band contest.

Waseca, Minnesota
