Owatonna Minnesota was founded in 1854. Owatonna is a Dakotan word, Quitunya, meaning straight. Owatonna is the county seat of Steele County MN. The city is approximately 60 miles south of the Minneapolis / St. Paul metropolitan area on Interstate 35 and State Highway 14, and only 45 minutes from the economic districts of Rochester and Mankato Minnesota.
