Area Travel - AmericInn® of Silver Bay, MN
Welcome to Beautiful Minnesota!Read about Silver Bay attractions and things to do nearby AmericInn.
Silver Bay was started in 1951 when the Reserve Mining Company began to clear land for their new taconite processing plant along the shores of Lake Superior. Homes were first occupied in 1952 along with the completion of the school and a shopping center, followed by the opening of the plant in 1956. By 1960 the population had grown to 3723 residents.
Tourism became the second industry for the community with the development of the Silver Bay Marina. The Marina became a destination for fishing, sailing and pleasure boaters. The community also became a hub for many of the trail systems that cross the North Shore.
When you stay at the AmericInn Lodge and Suites of Silver Bay, you will find the ATV/Snowmobile trail located just off the parking lot, miles of hiking and biking trails are located just up the road, and state parks and nature areas that provide fabulous scenery, a variety of wildlife and opportunities for memorable photos.
