Welcome to Hayward and Beautiful Wisconsin!
Hayward is your home for four seasons of fun. As the gateway to the Chequamegon National Forest, Hayward's history is deeply rooted in the logging industry. Enjoy the story of the old lumberjacks ‘jills’ at Fred Sheer's Lumberjack Show, home to the Lumberjack World Championships as seen on ESPN.
Hayward is home to the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, including a 4-story building in the shape of a Musky. Try your skill at landing the next world record Musky in one of the many area lakes, including the 17,000 acre Chippewa Flowage, Wisconsin's largest freshwater lake.
In the winter months, Hayward and nearby Cable host the American Birkibiener Cross Country Ski race. Ten thousand skiers, from weekend warriors to Olympians, finish the 50K race on Hayward's main street. Snowmobile enthusiasts can hook up to hundreds of miles of groomed trails from our back door. Ride from your room!
