Mauston, Wisconsin

Let Mauston be your gateway to four seasons of family fun! Recreational activities in the area include an 18-hole golf course, volleyball and tennis courts, picnic areas, bowling, hunting, swimming, biking, snowmobiling, skiing, boating and fishing. Nearby to Mauston are the state's 2nd and 4th largest lakes, Petenwell and Castle Rock. The area provides opportunities for bicycling enthusiasts that literally cannot be matched anywhere else in the world. Both the State of Wisconsin and Juneau County have developed extensive bicycle trails, including the Elroy-Sparta Trail, the "400" Trail, and the Omaha Trail. All of these trails connect in Elroy, a city only 12 miles from Mauston. Mauston is the retail center of Juneau County offering a wide variety of stores including supermarkets, a cheese factory and cheese mart, lumber yards, hardware, department, discount, jewelry, gift, craft, and antiques stores, service stations, automobile dealers, and pharmacies. Mauston is also home to a number of restaurants, liquor establishments, and fast food service outlets as well.

Baraboo, Wisconsin

Nestled in ancient and beautiful bluffs, the Baraboo area is exciting to explore! Only a short drive north from Madison, the state capital, the community of Baraboo is located on the banks of the Baraboo River, which flows through the center of town. Baraboo is best known as the birthplace of the Ringling Brothers Circus, and is home to Circus World Museum, offering live circus performances during the summer season and museum exhibits year 'round. It's sure-fire entertainment for the whole family! Devil's Lake State Park is located only 3 miles south of Baraboo, and is situated along the Ice Age Trail and visited by more than 1.2 million people per year. This spectacular park boasts 500 foot cliffs, miles of hiking trails, swimming areas, hundreds of campsites, mountain bike trails, cross country ski trails and is one of the Midwest's premiere rock climbing destinations! Easy access fishing is available along the south shore of the lake. Brown trout are taken mainly on small minnows or spinners off the steeply dropping east and west shores. You will also find walleyes and Northern Pike, which are stocked! A few miles north of Baraboo off Hwy 12 lies the International Crane Foundation, a world center for the study and preservation of nature's tallest flying birds. Guided tours usually last 1.5 - 2 hours. ICF also offers taped self-guided tours at no charge, with tape machines available at the Gift Shop. The recorded tour guides visitors through the crane exhibit area. ICF is the only place in the world where visitors can see all 15 species of cranes in one spot. History is alive in the Baraboo area, from the steam train rides at Mid-Continent Railway Museum, to the wide variety of art galleries, gift shops and specialty stores located in the historic buildings of the downtown district surrounding the county's courthouse. Located in the town square, the Al Ringling Theatre is a treasure of rare quality. Richly designed in the style of grand French opera houses, the Theatre has been a fixture in downtown Baraboo for over 80 years. Hear the Mighty Barton theatre organ and step back in time through its red-carpeted hallways to a golden age of ornate theatre architecture. Reedsburg, Wisconsin

Reedsburg is a city on the move! Located 13 miles from I-90/94 and served by two state highways, STH 23 and STH 33, Reedsburg is strategically located from a business perspective. The Reedsburg Municipal Airport, situated adjacent to the Reedsburg Industrial and Business Parks, provides corporations with another convenient transportation option.  Check out some of the following Area Attractions: Norman Rockwell Exhibit, Reedsburg Historical Society and Pioneer Log Village, the 400 State Trail or pick up a Historical Walking Tour guide from the Chamber Depot. Visit our historical Shopping district and check out our Antique Malls. Reedsburg offers a skateboard park with challenging obstacles for the skateboard enthusiasts. Close to downtown, this is an ideal park to test your boarding skills. Canoe the longest free flowing river in the nation - the Baraboo River. This flowage has been largely reclaimed, and flows approximately 100 miles from its headwaters near Hillsboro to its confluence with the Wisconsin River south of Portage. The Reedsburg community has been actively removing logjams and installing new boat launches in an effort to make the river more accessible and enjoyable for river enthusiasts. From the boat launch located in downtown Reedsburg, one can travel down to Rock Springs along a portion of the river that encompasses the most prominent topographic feature of Sauk County. The Baraboo Bluffs tower approximately 800 feet above the adjacent river valley making for an unforgettable adventure of the entire family. The 400 State Trail is located between Reedsburg and Elroy with 5 communities conveniently spaced along the trail to provide small town hospitality. The Trail Headquarters is located in the historic depot in Reedsburg. The communities located along the trail between Reedsburg and Elroy are: La Valle - 7 miles from Reedsburg, Wonewoc - 7 miles from La Valle, and Union Center - 4 miles from Wonewoc or Elroy. Wetlands, sandstone bluffs, rolling croplands and pastures are just a few of the sights that visitors will enjoy on the 400 trail as it repeatedly criss crosses the Baraboo River. The entire length of the trail follows along the river valley. Snowmobiles use the trail in the winter months. A unique feature of the 400 trail is a 7 mile horse trail which parallels the bike trail between Wonewoc and LaValle. Nature trails abound within the Reedsburg area. All hiking trails provide scenic vistas and unique opportunities to interact with nature. Reedsburg is conveniently located near the Dell Creek Wildlife Area which encompasses 2,125 acres of public hunting land located just 7 miles northeast of Reedsburg on Highway H. Within the City of Reedsburg the River Walk connects with the Roger Popple nature trail behind Web Park providing a scenic and enjoyable stroll along the Baraboo River. Public lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources provide many opportunities and public spaces to hunt ruffed grouse, turkey, whitetail deer and other game species in the Reedsburg area. The Reedsburg Country Club provides excellent golfing for any level of player.
