Entrance lobby area very clean and nice. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. Room was clean and nicely made up. Only issue was the cards not working well on the doors. Cost was slightly high but worth it. King size bed slept very well. I would stay there again.
Thank you so much for staying with us. We are sorry that the cards weren't working well for you. Please do come back again. We will have a nice king size bed waiting for you.
This place was pretty rough. It was worn out, and dirty. The staff was unprofessional. It is to be expected, as Ottumwa is not a very nice or clean town. Housekeeping is not good. Fine stay for all intents and purposes however.
The hotel was clean and well kept. Our room was spotless. We were next to a train station and trains passed as late as 11pm. It didn't bother us but it might for someone who likes quiet. The pool area was great, lots of families there. Would stay again.
Thank you for your review. We are glad that you enjoyed the pool! We work hard to keep it in top-condition for our guests. Ottumwa is transitioning to quiet zone so the trains won't keep the downtown up all night anymore. We are thrilled this is taking place. Please do come back anytime!

Room was dirty and had hair all over my bed, when I asked the staff about it I was told there's nothing they can do. After returning back from work my room was flooded from the toilet backing up somehow while I was gone. Which makes me wonder if your staff is using the facilities in my room. After I told the front desk about it again I was told there is nothing they could do. I had to ask them if I could be moved to a new room. No apology was giving, some of my clothes were ruined and I had to purchase new ones since I was in town for work. No offer to take care of their mistake! Its ridiculous and very unprofessional how I was treated. I had asked for towels and to my surprise I was brought make up remover and then asked if I had a cigarette and a lighter for her!? Not to mention the alarm going off in the room next to me at 4am for four days straight, after I had asked each day for them to turn it off since their was no guest staying in that room. My whole experience here was miserable, I would not recommend this place nor will I be staying here again.

After briefly checking into a different hotel in Ottumwa, but then promptly leaving due to cleanliness issues, the AmericInn was a welcome site! Room was updated and clean and they had a good, hot breakfast in the morning. And even though there are train tracks nearby and you can hear them blow their horns throughout the whole night, the clean hotel was worth it!
We are so glad you found your way here. Please do come and stay with us again. Also, it might be of interest to you that the town of Ottumwa will soon be a quiet zone, so the train horns at night will be a thing of the past. It will greatly improve our whole downtown area. Thank you for your kind review. See you next time!
