The AmericInn at Silver City is located right on Lake Superior. I believe every room has either a view of the Lake, or the inlet leading to the Lake. There is beautiful shoreline to walk, some lakeside seating, and the hotel provides you with wood for an evening sunset beach fire if you 'd like to do that. Porcupine Mtns are about 15 min away by car; Bond Falls (gorgeous!) are a nice walk - about 1-1.5 miles away. That's outside. Inside, the rooms are clean & comfy. Staff are friendly & accommodating. The lobby has a nice, rustic seating area. Paul's Superior View Restaurant (in the hotel) is great! I visit here twice a year for a Quilt Retreat & look forward to it every time.
Staff was super, had a room with king bed. Good size room, clean, and bathroom was great with plenty of soft towels. Breakfast was better than you would expect for $90 a night. Great view of lake Superior. Only complaint is the bed was a bit to firm for my liking.

My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon which served as a great getaway after wedding stress! The hotel itself was nice. We had a large room and opted to get a jacuzzi. There were fire pits outside available for use, although we didn't (maybe next time!). There is a restaurant inside the hotel, which was pretty good too. It closed early which was a draw-back, but the population is so small up in the UP I understood why they closed early. The location of the hotel is ideal. It is very close to the Porcupine Mountains and a ton of trail heads, although there isn't much to do there outside of nature-related activities. We enjoyed hiking and then returning to a nice comfy bed! We would certainly stay there again!
Had a great stay, Rooms clean, spacious. Very friendly staff. Pool and hot tub were great after a day of snowmobiling. Be prepared no cell service, internet works. Don't eat at the restaurant for Dinner. Breakfast was great.

I've stayed at the AmericInn in Ironwood before and it was simply just "OK". This place however shames that location. It is very clean. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. They sent an e-mail a day before our stay telling us that they are looking forward to our upcoming stay. I had requested an early check in which they had no problem accommodating.
We had a room on the main level and lake view. It was perfect to get in and out of for snowmobiling. A lot of skiers and snowmobilers. I've seen reviews saying the hotel needs updates. Quite frankly, the only updates it could use is some newer carpeting in the rooms & new comforters. - The beds and pillows are actually very comfortable. While not standards of a 5 star luxury hotel, I was actually rather impressed and slept very well. The wall A/C and heat unit could be replaced with a more modern one that has a thermostat and something that regulates temperature better, but for what you pay for it does just fine.
There is a hot breakfast every morning, which isn't anything to write home about by any means. Toast, Cereal, bagels, yogurt, some powered eggs turned into fluffy scrambled eggs and some fly by the night sausages. Its perfect for getting something in your stomach, and if you are looking for a great breakfast then you should go to a restaurant. I love hotels like this that have an option for breakfast because its just enough to fill you up in the morning. They also have make your own waffles which is great because they are huge and taste great!
There is a bar that is attached to the hotel. The bar is from the 1930's and has been there since the beginning. They later added on, including the hotel. The bartender is fantastic and on weekends there is a crowd that gathers in. There is a jukebox that plays great music. You can only order pizza at the bar, which is some cheap frozen stuff. They should work a deal with Heggies or something and get something much better in there with more options. There is a restaurant in the hotel, and while we never ate there not sure if we would, just doesn't have nice atmosphere or appearance of a restaurant, almost feels like a banquet hall.
If you are a snowmobiler and are looking to have access to trails from this hotel - you won't have a lot of selection. There are two ways in and out. While we loved our options and mainly took one way, it is at least an hour to Bergland by snowmobile and that is moving rather fast at times to make the hour.
There is a pool, hot tub and sauna in this hotel. Pool looked nice, but I'm not sure if its heated as we put our foot in it and quickly got it out because it was so cold. The hot tub was nice however they used so much chlorine that my eyes burnt from the chemicals (tried it two nights in a row and the second night was worse). Sauna was nice though! - pool area was clean, if you use the shower in the pool area and want warm water, word to the wise you will need to wait 6 minutes as it takes that long for the hot water to get from the other end of the building apparently!
We've been up to the UP several times looking for the next best place and I think we found it!
Thank you for your review, we appreciate our customer feedback. We are in the process of updating our rooms and dining area and hope to have them done within the year. Just before your stay with us we found that our pool heater was only working at 50%, and water temp at only 78 degrees, not our usually 83, but we were able to fix it right away, it did however take time to get it to our normal temp. I will let Kim, our bartender, know that you enjoyed her company, we agree she is awesome at what she does. We look forward to your return visit as it sounds like we will be your stop while in the UP.
