I travel to International Falls on business occasionally. I stayed at the AmericInn and found it to be very clean, welcoming and convenient. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean and the hotel was quiet.
For a crowded hockey tournament, this hotel took care of my family like pros! Wonderful stay! The staff was very helpful in setting up the reservation, check in and check out. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed in this hotel twice, and both times had issues. First time was August 2014, and we got there at check in time but we were unable to check in because of some work that was going on in the pool area. We did not have a poolside room and we had check in like 2 hour...
I have stayed in this hotel twice, and both times had issues. First time was August 2014, and we got there at check in time but we were unable to check in because of some work that was going on in the pool area. We did not have a poolside room and we had check in like 2 hours later and go kill some time. When we did get to check in our kids wanted to go down pool but weren't able but did get to next day. Hot tub wasn't working. About 10-15 min. into swimming a piece of ceiling fell into the pool and we were unable to use the pool at that point, thankfully the kids were at opposite end of pool. Fast forward to this past weekend we traveled again I. Falls for our son's hockey tournament. this time there were others in our group that had no heat in their, it was -20 below zero for an outside temp. The hotel solved the problem by giving them space heaters which I see as a major fire hazard. Our room was very chilly and drafty, and well got cold during the night. The rooms were pretty average (nothing special), Had to ask for shampoo. And on Saturday we did not have warm water to shower. The halls were drafty and not well cleaned. Also, the lobby area had dirty sticky floors.
Amy C. I am so sorry that you had a bad experience with us. I can't comment on last summer as I don't recall that particular weekend. We do have regular maintenance issues though and I am sure what you are saying is accurate and I do apologize for any issues you may have had then.
As for the hockey weekend we do struggle when we have large groups of hockey teams. We are the only hotel in the area with a pool and recreation facility and we try and accommodate as many teams as possible throughout the year. It can be very challenging with the constant heavy use that our facility receives, just to keep everything up and running perfectly. I am not trying not to make excuses for our short falls but just to try and explain why these things do occur. Many families try to put 5 people in a room and start plugging in extra things like crock-pots, etc. and then the fuses start tripping and it can snowball into other problem areas. We do our best to patrol many issues and work with all our guests to try and make everything work but we often fall short and I am very sorry for that.
As for cleanliness of our hotel I am a little surprised as we just spent a lot of time and money to professionally shampoo the entire hotel in November. Every room, hallway, stairway and public area was completely cleaned. This is done every quarter of each year. We also have our own cleaning equipment to maintain our hotel in between. Hopefully any mess made by any group or individual was cleaned up timely during the weekend .
The extreme cold also puts an extra load on the boilers and heating system. We do try very hard to have them fully maintained throughout the year, unfortunately it doesn't always work perfectly and like last weekend we had to call an emergency heating specialist in to fix the problem. The space heaters are only meant to be a temporary fix for your comfort until we were able to remedy the problem.
Please accept my apologies on behalf the Staff and Management at Americinn Hotel and Suites. I hope that you will give us another chance in the future to make your next stay with us a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

The front desk attendant was very helpful. The restaurant staff was very pleasant. The room overall was comfortable. There was hair on the bathroom floor, but looked like an attempt was made at cleaning, just very carelessly. I mentioned to the attendant at checkout and they did apologize and give a bit of a discount. The breakfast was decent enough, eggs sausages patties, fruit, yoghurt cereal, make yourself waffles. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and staff. We very much appreciate your feedback as it helps us to improve our hotel and staff and correct any issues that we create. I am glad you found us a "Nice Hotel" and we very much hope you will return and visit us again. We are constantly trying to improve our standards and we have what we call a "Hotel Refresh" in progress - painting and shampooing rooms, etc.
We also are adding different breakfast items to give our guests some additional choices. Nice especially if your stay is for several days. Another thing we will be offering will be some gluten free breakfast items. We want everyone to enjoy the start of their day with us.
