Hotel was freshly remodeled, clean and comfortable. Area was nice and glad I had a reservation due to the hotel being full. The only thing that woke me up was the storm. This hotel was one of the few places that seem to have good internet service - although the storm did knock out service for a bit - understandable.
Staff was very friendly and, due to my phone carrier service being bad in the are. The staff offered up their personal phones for my use if needed.
Overall a great stay and a good nights sleep - the thunderstorm was free.
Will stay again.
The price was reasonable. The room was clean and comfy. The pool was a nice temperature. I got directions for health services and other help. Everyone was so nice and helpful. This was the best stop of our entire road trip!

This is a very nice and cozy hotel located about 10 miles north of I-90. It's a pretty convenient place to stay for one night for a trip to Spearfish Canyon the next day, but other than that not much happening in this town just outside the Black Hills. We found ourselves here because we extended our vacation/road trip to Deadwood area by one night and were looking for a nice but inexpensive place to stay. This suited us well. We were greeted with friendly enthusiasm by Stacey as we checked in around 9PM, worn out from our 10 day trip. This was our last night before heading home and all we wanted to do (me, my wife, and our 15 year old son) was to relax, watch TV for the first time in a week, and gently fall asleep. We entered the room and it looked fantastic. We turned on the TV and it slowly dimmed to a dark, unwatchable picture everytime we switched the channel. First we were brought a different TV. The guy hooked it up and it looked great. He left. We changed the channel and the same thing happened. We called down again. He brought a new cable cord up and left and sure enough (Murphy's Law) the TV ️went dim again. I called down again and Stacey told me that it was a cable outage causing it and was starting to sound slightly irritated by my persistence. By now, it wasn't so much that we needed to watch TV, it was the principle of the matter that we were paying to stay in a hotel with no working TV in our room. I didn't believe that it was a cable outage causing the problem, so I went to the lobby and turned on that TV and changed channels and it worked great. At that point Stacey offered that she had already discounted my room and continued blaming it on a nearby cable outage. I went back up to the room giving up on TV for the night and 10 minutes later the room phone rang. By this time it was 11:20 PM and we just wanted to go to sleep. It was Trey from Mid Continent Cable. The hotel had him call me to explain that there was an outage. He told me confidentially that an outage would not fade the TV from normal to dark and that it sounded like a different problem that they (the cable company) were not responsible for. Further, he added that if the TV in the lobby worked, mine should too. The hotel's plan of having him call me backfired. I made one more call downstairs and the guy that had tried to help us earlier (forgot his name) answered this time. I let him know that I was told by Trey from Mid Continent Cable the problem with the TV was not caused by their outage. Prior to checking out the next morning, I turned the TV on one more time and the same thing happened, bright to dim. This dispelled the notion that it was a cable company outage that caused our TV not to work. When I went to the front desk to get a receipt, I found that we were discounted a whopping $15 off our stay. This is a 5 star hotel for me, but that night it was 2. I was never offered to switch rooms (they were probably full, but they didn't bother to tell us it would be an option if they could), was never apologized to for the inconvenience, and felt like they tried to pawn my problem off on the local cable company, and not themselves. The paltry $15 discount for a rough evening the night before put the icing on the cake.
I apologize for the difficulties experienced. I am glad you enjoyed the new addition to our hotel and liked our breakfast. We tried everything within our abilities to make the tv work for you, which you noted our efforts. We were told by the cable company a very different story than what he told you. Had our cable provider told us exactly what he told you, we would have told you we just did not know what the issue was. As it turns out, we contacted the company from whom we bought the tvs the very next morning. They informed us that there is a setting which is called auto dimming that is there to enhance the viewing experience. We informed them that our guest DID NOT find it enhancing!!! We have now downloaded a fix for that and it will not be on our tvs anymore! We always act in good faith towards our guests. You are correct in that our hotel was full and we were unable to move you to another room. We hold our staff and ourselves accountable for our guest experience and we have a solution now to the issue you experienced. Best wishes in your travels!
Staff were gracious and very friendly. We had booked a room for our family of six and when we got to the hotel the general manager let us know that they upgraded our room free of charge. The room was wonderful. We recommend this hotel to any family.
We are glad we were able to upgrade your family! We cannot always do that, but if the opportunity is there, we try to! We certainly enjoyed having you and your family here with us and we hope you have the opportunity to travel our way and stay again.
Stayed 3 days for our sons wedding. Outstanding room, great service, super accomodating. A huge thank you to the staff who found a room for the groomsmen who had failed to make a reservation. Would reccomend it to all. Thank you for all you did.
We thoroughly enjoyed having your wedding guests here! Everyone was so happy and great to work with. We hope you will be back this way again for another stay!
