Elevators not located in areas for person having mobility issues. Same foe breakfast area. Was promised connecting rooms for family reunion did not happen. Price for using doubled day of event. Very unfair. Could not cancel event so what a disturbing surprise.

This hotel is very clean and welcoming EXCEPT..There is a sign posted for the hotel's private beach that states that catching smelt on this beach is for hotel guests only. Unfortunately this is not true! On the evening of April 13th and 14th, this beach had 20 to 30 locals netting smelt between the hours of 7pm and midnight. When they were asked if they were hotel guests, they stated no - they were from Ashland, but were friends with the manager Todd and were allowed to use the beach. This was a major disappointment as the reason that we had chosen this hotel was the beach area for hotel guests only and we were made to feel that we didn't belong there.

I am truly sorry you had a bad experience on our beach and apologize that we didn't do a better job of controlling access. I understand your frustration and disappointment and will keep your comments in mind as we make improvements to our guest experience. I hope you will give us the opportunity to regain your confidence on a future visit.
I stayed at the Americinn because they accept dogs, it's decent and they have free wifi. Unfortunately the dog rooms are at the end of the hotel where the wifi doesn't reach and my cell reception was very week in the hotel. Couldn't get any work done.

The billboards certainly make a much bigger deal out of this small play area than it is. It was nice to bring the family for an evening for $40 though. There are 2 body water slides with an area at the bottom big enough to catch the slider but not much else. Spectators can s...
The billboards certainly make a much bigger deal out of this small play area than it is. It was nice to bring the family for an evening for $40 though. There are 2 body water slides with an area at the bottom big enough to catch the slider but not much else. Spectators can shoot water guns at people coming off slides. The pool had a basketball hoop on one end which was nice. The hot tub had no controls for guest use; it just came on periodically. The showers were less than clean and the lighting was very dark. The snack bar took cash only which is an inconvenience in today's plastic world. Overall ok but I'll probably go to the Edge in Duluth next time as it is closer to home and my company gets a discount.

We arrived at 2:50pm from out of town. We were told that our room wasn't ready and check in time wasn't until 3pm. Our family left to get some pizza and came back a little later. When we went to our room there was a big red stain on the floor by one of the chairs and one of the bed' s bedspreads was dirty. I went to the front desk to ask them to change the dirty bedding ( while my husband took our kids to the pool area). I was told at the front desk that she couldn't do anything but give us a clean bedspread. I told her that I shouldn't have to make our bed considering we had just arrived and it was dirty. She insisted that was all she could do, so I took the clean bedspread and remade our bed. When I returned the dirty bedspread to her she told me she would talk to her manager and see what he could do for us. Then I went to join my husband and kids in the pool area. The water slides opened an hour after they were supposed to and the next morning the hot tub was closed for maintenance. The breakfast part was very good and the employee working in that area did a great job and was friendly. When we went to check out a gentleman asked us how our stay was , so we told him it was extremely subpar compared to what we have had there in the past. He asked what was wrong in a rather annoyed voice, so we told him. He told us they are running with less than a full staff and there must have been some miscommunication about the bedspread the night before because he said he was in the building until 5:30pm. We were not given any additional discounts for the messy room or not being able to use the water slides/ hot tubs during the times that they should have been open. The employee that was working also did not apologize, he just wrote down our complaint.
