One of the best hotel's I've stayed in for a very reasonable price. Everything was nice and comfortable, the view was amazing and the staff very friendly. Would definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

The staff at this hotel were wonderful. It was a very busy day, however they actually looked like they were having fun. They were kind to our grandchildren and took the time to answer their questions. At the same time they were very efficient and we didn't have to wait at all to get checked into our Rooms (we had three). I was very happy with the quiet rooms. The people next to us we're having a birthday party which you could hear in the hall but not in our room.

The AmericInn Ashland was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful and overall it was a great value with the waterpark passes and breakfast included. We could not be happier with our stay and will look to return again!

My husband and I stayed with our 6 and 7 year old girls. We have a dog and were so grateful the AmericInn accepts dogs. We had a huge room (Rm 131) that only cost $100 (plus $25 for the dog). It had a door that went directly outside so I could walk the pooch right from the r...
My husband and I stayed with our 6 and 7 year old girls. We have a dog and were so grateful the AmericInn accepts dogs. We had a huge room (Rm 131) that only cost $100 (plus $25 for the dog). It had a door that went directly outside so I could walk the pooch right from the room. It had a nice view of the lake, the room was clean and the girls had a great time in the pool area. It's a nicer pool than the other hotels so we like staying here. The free breakfast is wonderful too!

When we drove up, the sign read "Motel with a Resort Feel." While the building looks nice on the outside and the view of Lake Superior is spectacular, after you stay you realize that it's simply another poor-service motel. The breakfast is cheap and not plentiful. I wouldn't call this a hot breakfast. The eggs and bacon I had the first morning were pre-packaged and round. Not scrambled, and definitely not hot. The breakfasts I receive at gas stations are better than this. At least there was a waffle maker, which is about the best thing there to eat. The breakfast area is not in the center of the hotel. It is located in the eastern wing. Our room (a "pet-friendly room") was located at the end of the western wing, making for a LONG journey to the lobby, pool, and breakfast area. The pet policy has too many DO NOTS. Dogs are not allowed in the lobby, breakfast area, pool, outdoor patios or the beach. We never could figure out where the pet area was. The good thing was our "pet-friendly room" had a small patio. So we could easily let our dog out to use the bathroom. Not sure if this was allowed, but I could not figure out where else to take my poor unwanted dog. I say "unwanted" because this is how the hotel makes you feel with all their policies. The pool area is large and can be fun when things are working. The slides are only on at certain times (when a life guard is present) and you never know when that is. You have to ask at the front desk. I never saw Shipwreck Lounge open at all. There is a large patch of missing tiles near the hot tub. While AmericInn advertises special soundproof walls, this place does NOT have it! We could hear every little bit of talking around our room, especially in the middle of the night. While the staff is friendly, they did not have us marked down for the correct number of days. So we had to fix that; thankfully we received the same room--and after some discussion--the same special rate. But coming back to our rooms on that last night we found our keys had been disabled. Why? Because no one told us that our keys had to be re-scanned after fixing our "date mix-up." That should have been something the receptionist did as soon as she fixed the dates. Beautiful place, but the service and the policies need to be fixed!
